Every Child Deserves to be Heard
At Family Law CASA, we believe that every child deserves to be heard and have a safe and bright future. As the only independent nonprofit family law CASA program in the nation, we have dedicated ourselves to bridging the gap for low-income families navigating custody cases in King County. Our mission is to ensure the safety and security of children in high-conflict custody cases, championing their needs and giving them a voice in court.
Our Services
We provide child advocacy services to low-income families as determined by the Unified Family Court of King County. Our services include providing Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) and attorney representation for children involved in high-conflict family litigation. Our CASAs are trained volunteers who work closely with our attorneys to provide personalized support and advocacy for children in need. We also offer community support services, legal representation, and resources for families, advocates, and legal professionals.
Our Impact
Since 2002, we have advocated for over 3000 kids in King County from low-income homes who are facing major safety concerns such as domestic violence, substance use, and mental illness. In 2023, 184 children had a volunteer provided for them by Family Law CASA, and 25% of our 156 active advocates were BIPOC. Our work benefits 175-250 kids per year from low-income families in King County, and we are committed to reducing potential trauma as they encounter the justice system.
Our Mission & Values
Our mission is to ensure the safety and security of children in high-conflict custody cases, championing their needs and giving them a voice in court. Our values include compassion, advocacy, and justice for all children, regardless of their background or circumstances. We believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and protected, and we are committed to making that a reality.

Concerns with Volunteers and Services
Lack of Experience and Unprofessionalism
Many reviewers expressed concerns about the volunteers who provide services, citing a lack of experience and unprofessional behavior. The volunteers are seen as untrained and untrustworthy, with some reviewers suggesting that they are more of a hindrance than a help.
Unreliable Reporting and Bias
Reviewers also expressed concerns about the reports generated by these volunteers, which can have a significant impact on court cases. There are concerns that these reports may be biased or inaccurate, and that the volunteers may not have the necessary skills or expertise to make informed decisions.
Poor Communication and Scheduling
Some reviewers experienced poor communication and scheduling issues with the volunteers, including unexpected changes to scheduled meetings and unprofessional behavior during interactions.
Dedication to Assisting Children
