Our History
Our story began in 1844 when William Doran, an ambitious young man from Dublin, Ireland, arrived in Charleston, South Carolina, seeking a brighter future. He founded the James Doran Company in 1882, which quickly grew to become one of the largest shipping companies in Charleston. Over the years, our company adapted to changing market conditions, diversifying into real estate and investment banking, and eventually focusing on office and multi-family real estate. Today, we have developed more than three million square feet of retail, office, and mixed-use space, as well as over six thousand apartment units, with a portfolio valued at $1.5 billion.
