Our Story
Inspired by the great outdoors, Big Cypress Lodge was designed by Johnny Morris, the founder and CEO of Bass Pro Shops, to bring the outdoors in and connect people with their love for nature. Our story began in 2005 when Johnny Morris went fishing on the Mississippi River and made a promise to build a store inside the Memphis Pyramid if he caught a 30-pound catfish. With the help of his friends, Bill Dance and Jack Emmitt, they reeled in a monster catfish, and the rest is history.
