New Yew is an accessible, body positive, diversity welcoming, queer friendly, trans-affirming massage and bodywork practice in the Heritage Hill neighborhood of Grand Rapids. Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for individuals to relax, rejuvenate, and transform their lives.
Our Story
As a neurodivergent and queer-friendly practice, we understand the importance of creating a welcoming environment for everyone. Our therapist, Chelle, has been a massage therapist since 2002 and has worked in a variety of settings from day spas to wellness centers. With a background in biology and a passion for helping others, Chelle has dedicated her life to providing exceptional massage therapy services that cater to individual needs.
Our Services
At New Yew, we offer a range of massage and bodywork services designed to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. Our services include:
- Massage and Bodywork: A personalized blend of massage and bodywork techniques tailored to your unique needs.
- Targeted Sessions: Focused sessions for specific areas of tension, such as headaches, TMJD, carpal tunnel, or plantar fasciitis.
- Reiki: A relaxing and calming experience that can be used as a standalone service or in conjunction with other treatments.
Our Specialties
We specialize in helping individuals with chronic issues such as headaches, neck pain, TMJD, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, high stress, and problematic scars. Our therapist, Chelle, has extensive knowledge and experience in working with clients who have tried other treatments without success.
Accessibility
We are committed to making our services accessible to everyone. Our suite is located on the second floor of the Masonic Temple, with accessible parking, automatic doors, and elevators. The massage table lowers to 23 inches high, and the doorways into the suite and office have 34.5-inch openings.

Chelle Doetsch is the owner and sole therapist at New Yew. She is neurodivergent, non-binary, and uses both she/her and they/them pronouns. With a degree in biology from Grand Valley State University, Chelle has been a massage therapist since 2002 and has worked in a variety of settings from day spas to wellness centers. She is passionate about providing exceptional care and creating a safe and inclusive space for all clients.
