Creating artistic and functional ceramic pieces inspired by nature.
At West End Pottery, we are a collaborative ceramic venture featuring the work of Anne Rasmussen and Mike Farabee. Our goal is to create artistic and functional ceramic pieces that can be both used and admired. We draw inspiration from the natural world, incorporating textures, forms, and patterns found in nature into our work.
Our Process
Anne's ceramic education is a lifelong process of learning and discovery. She has studied under various instructors, including Luis Baiz at Phoenix College and Jon Higuchi, Don Ridley, Seth Rainville, Bennett Bean, Tom Coleman, Robin Hopper, Steven Hill, Chris Gustin, among others. Her inspiration comes from nature and Asia, and she continues to be influenced by her international travels.
Mike's ceramic work is informed by his extensive background in biology and geology. He draws inspiration from the textures and patterns found in nature, striving to replicate these in his ceramic pieces. His work is wheel-thrown and often altered using porcelain and stoneware clays, making each piece unique.
Our Work
Our ceramic work includes functional and decorative pieces, including wheel-thrown porcelain and stoneware vessels. Utilitarian pieces are designed to be durable and elegant, and are food, dishwasher, and microwave safe. We offer a range of styles and designs, from simple to intricate, reflecting our diverse inspirations and creative processes.
