Empowering confident, independent, and curious learners
Our Story
At Liberated Children's House - Montessori Preschool, we have a rich history of providing a child-centered education to children from the age of 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our journey began in 2013 when we, Leslie and Sterling Whitmore, founded the original Liberated Montessori House in our home in Little Forest Hills. We were driven by a desire to create an ideal Montessori setting for our daughter, who was only one year old at the time. Like many families, we were seeking natural-minded child care that mirrored our style of Attachment Parenting with a focus on gentle discipline and social-emotional well-being.
Programs
We began modestly in our small home in Little Forest Hills, offering care for children from 18 months to 5 years old. As word of mouth quickly spread and our waiting list grew, we moved to a larger house to better accommodate our students. In 2018, we moved into a renovated building on Garland Road in East Dallas, where we started a new journey as Liberated Children's House - Montessori Preschool.
We offer three programs designed to cater to the unique needs of children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our programs are based on the principles of the Montessori Method, which emphasizes self-motivated activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play.
Nido Program
Our Nido Program is designed for children from 6 weeks to 15 months old. This program is an extension of Home, providing a calm, peaceful space where infants and young toddlers are free to explore within a safe and carefully prepared environment. Our Nido Program is designed to nurture the natural curiosities of young children, encouraging them to discover and learn through play.
Toddler Program
Our Toddler Program is designed for children from 15 months to 3 years old. This program takes advantage of the toddler's natural drive and desire to act independently. Our classroom materials are designed to recognize that children learn by doing, with activities and materials that encourage independence, exploration, and discovery.
Primary Program
Our Primary Program is designed for children from 3 to 6 years old. Children in this program begin with simple exercises based on the activities they are drawn to. Our classroom materials are designed to aid concentration, coordination, and sense of order, encouraging children to become confident, independent, and life-long learners.
Equity and Inclusion
At Liberated Children's House - Montessori Preschool, we are deeply committed to creating an inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist school environment. We welcome all members of our community and prospective families with open arms, and we do not discriminate based on race, color, origin, religion, gender identity, or expression. We believe that by fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, we can create a more compassionate and accepting society.
The Montessori Method
The Montessori Method is a child-centered, holistic approach to education created by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900s. Our Montessori Method is based on self-motivated activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. By giving children the opportunity to learn from their own individual experiences and mistakes, we are setting them up to become confident, independent, and life-long learners.
Accreditation and Philosophy
We are proud to be associated with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the only accrediting organization established specifically by Dr. Maria Montessori. As an AMI-accredited school, we consistently support the Montessori principles and faithfully put them into practice.
Admission Process
We understand that choosing the right preschool for your child is an important decision. Our admission process is designed to ensure that each child is well-suited to our program. We welcome families to attend a virtual tour, where they can learn more about our program, daily life, schedules, tuition, and more. After the virtual tour, families can submit an application and application fee. Applications are reviewed and accepted based on several factors, including sibling priority and a balancing of our waiting list.
Conclusion
At Liberated Children's House - Montessori Preschool, we are committed to providing a child-centered education that caters to the unique needs of each individual child. We believe that by fostering a culture of inclusivity, equity, and anti-racism, we can create a more compassionate and accepting society.
