• Mohs surgery and skin cancer surgery: Mohs surgery is a highly effective treatment for skin cancer that offers the highest cure rate while minimizing scarring. As a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, Dr. Hernandez has the expertise to perform this delicate procedure with precision and skill.
• Examinations and diagnosis of new or changing skin lesions: Early detection and accurate diagnosis are critical to the successful treatment of skin cancer. Our practice uses the latest technology and techniques to diagnose and monitor skin lesions.
• Comprehensive skin cancer examinations: Regular skin cancer screenings are essential for early detection and prevention. Our practice offers comprehensive skin cancer examinations for patients at high risk for skin cancer.
• Periodic surveillance skin checks: For patients with a history of skin cancer, regular surveillance is crucial to detecting new or recurring cancer. We offer periodic surveillance skin checks to monitor patients' skin health and provide prompt treatment if necessary.
• Surgical removal of moles, cysts, and skin growths: We offer surgical removal of various skin growths, including moles, cysts, and other benign or malignant growths.
• Cosmetic removal of skin lesions: We understand that some skin lesions can be unsightly and affect patients' self-confidence. We offer cosmetic removal of skin lesions to improve patients' appearance and restore their confidence.

Meet Dr. Manuel H. Hernandez

Dr. Manuel H. Hernandez is a board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery and advanced reconstructive surgery. He completed his undergraduate pre-medical studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y, where he earned a Bachelor of Art with Distinction in All Subjects. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Hernandez attended Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, where he earned his medical degree.

Dr. Hernandez completed his internship at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, a teaching hospital in the Harvard Medical School system. He then pursued a dermatology residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, where he served as Chief Resident in dermatology. Finally, Dr. Hernandez completed a coveted Mohs surgery and advanced reconstructive surgery fellowship with Dr. Neil Swanson at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.

Dr. Hernandez has been serving the Charlotte county community since 1998, becoming the first and only board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Mohs surgery. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, the Charlotte County Medical Society, and has been named multiple times as a Florida Top Doctor in Dermatology.

In his spare time, Dr. Hernandez enjoys boating with his family and dog JJ, cycling, and participating in triathlons. His accomplishments include the Florida 140.6 Ironman, Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in San Francisco, Florida 70.3 Half Ironman, and the grueling Vuelta a Puerto Rico and Fort Myers to Key West bike rides. He is always in search of new challenges and has most recently adopted gravel cycling.
