At Tustin Community Preschool, our mission is to provide an enriching and stimulating developmental preschool experience for young children through dedicated and committed parent participation. We believe that by engaging our children in hands-on activities, creative play, and sensory experiences, we can help them develop their natural abilities and reach their highest potential.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple: the best way to prepare children for life and to become independent thinkers is to allow them to develop at their own pace through playtime and creative expression. We believe that by providing a nurturing and safe environment, we can help our children develop emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively.

The Developmental Approach

We take a developmental approach to learning, recognizing that each child grows and develops at their own pace. We design our program to take into account the stages of development and maturity, rather than forcing a structured learning process that may not be developmentally appropriate. This allows our children to learn through thoughtful playtime, creative experiences, and sensory discovery, building confidence and social skills along the way.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are dedicated professionals with a passion for early childhood education. Ms. Shelley Burnett, our Director and 3 Day Class Teacher, has a background in child development and has been recognized as the California Teacher of the Year in 2008. Ms. Lizette Sosa, our Teacher, has been part of our TCP family since 2015 and has experience working with children in various capacities, including the Curriculum Committee.

What Makes Us Unique

As a cooperative preschool, our parents are actively involved in the daily operations of the school. We believe that this involvement not only benefits our children but also fosters a sense of community among our families. Our curriculum is designed to be fun, engaging, and challenging, incorporating activities such as indoor creative play, outdoor play, storytime, sharing, singing, daily art experiences, science, garden, animals, language development, small and large motor development activities, ongoing music, yoga, and gymnastic classes, and regular field trips.

Participating as a Parent

As a parent-participation preschool, we rely on our parents to contribute their time and talents to ensure the smooth operation of the school. This can involve anything from volunteering in the classroom to serving on committees or participating in fundraising events. We believe that this involvement not only supports the school but also strengthens the bond between our children and their families.

What We Offer

At Tustin Community Preschool, we offer a comprehensive preschool program that focuses on developing the whole child - academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our program is designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun, ensuring that our children leave the preschool with a lifelong love of learning and a strong foundation for their future educational pursuits.
