Transform Your Outdoor Space into a Breathtaking Oasis
At Rainier Valley Cooperative Preschool, we believe that early childhood education is a journey of discovery and growth for both children and families. Our preschool is a community where children are valued and respected for who they are today. We believe that children are competent, capable, and eager to learn, and we strive to create a nurturing environment that fosters their natural curiosity and creativity.
Our Mission and Philosophy
As a cooperative preschool, we are committed to providing a unique and personalized educational experience for our students. Our Co-Teaching Model, with two teachers in each class, allows us to authentically individualize for each child's needs, strengths, and interests. We focus on a social-emotional curriculum and play-based learning as the foundation of our early childhood development program. Our North Seattle College affiliation provides our families with early childhood education, family resources, scholarships, and community support.
Our Classes and Programs
We offer a range of classes for children aged 1-5, each designed to meet the developmental needs of our students. Our classes are designed to foster a sense of community and belonging among our students and their families. Our fully-enclosed, dedicated playground and indoor, open floor-plan classroom provide a safe and engaging environment for our students to explore and learn.
About Our Teaching Methods
At Rainier Valley Cooperative Preschool, we believe that educating children requires a deep understanding of childhood development. We recognize that children learn in unique and diverse ways, and we strive to create a curriculum that is both engaging and meaningful. Our teachers use a play-based learning approach, which encourages children to explore, create, and learn through hands-on activities.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
We believe that every child deserves a safe and inclusive environment where they can thrive. At Rainier Valley Cooperative Preschool, we are committed to creating a culture of care for one another and the world. We recognize that our school is part of an institutionally racist system, and we are committed to learning and unlearning how to effectively undo and oppose that system.
Our Board of Directors and Governance
Our Board of Directors is committed to upholding the values of our cooperative preschool. We stand with the Black community in solidarity against racism and are committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for all families.
How You Can Support Us
Rainier Valley Cooperative Preschool relies on the support of our families and community to continue providing our unique early childhood education programs. We offer a range of ways for you to support our school, from volunteering to making donations.
Get Involved
We invite you to join our community of learners and explore how you can be a part of our journey. Whether you're a parent, educator, or member of our community, we believe that every individual has a role to play in shaping the minds and hearts of our young people.
