Our Mission

At State of Search, our mission is to educate and promote digital marketing, and to be a resource to help increase ROI for companies and their websites through best practices. We believe that by sharing knowledge and networking, we can make a significant impact on the digital marketing industry.

History of State of Search

Back in February of 2004, Bill Hartzer and Jim Gilbert invited a few folks to an informal meeting to talk about search engine marketing (SEM). "At that time, we didn't have the vision of an organization, " Bill said. "We invited SEM experts who had spoken at conferences and who were known in the industry, although, at that time, it wasn't truly an industry yet." Twelve people showed up, and even though it was a small start, the group continued to meet regularly.

Our Services

We offer a range of services to support your digital marketing efforts. These include:

  • Monthly Meetings: Join us on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM as we bring in industry experts to share their knowledge and experiences.
  • Annual Conference: Our annual conference is the culmination of a year's worth of learning and networking. This year's conference will take place on October 28-29, 2024 at the Grapevine Convention Center.
  • Networking: Connect with other digital marketers, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders in the industry, expanding your network and making valuable connections.
  • Education: Learn from industry experts and thought leaders in the digital marketing space, staying up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices.

State of Search is a non-profit organization that is strictly funded by its members through sponsorships and donations as well as the Annual Conference.
