Our leadership team is comprised of experienced professionals with a deep understanding of the commercial construction industry.

Meet the Leadership Team

Coleman Lay, Owner, and Chief Operating Officer, joined LAY Construction in 2015 and has been involved in all aspects of the business, including project management, estimating, operations, and finance. Coleman holds a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University's College of Architecture, Design, and Construction.

Gene McCutcheon, President, joined LAY Construction in 1991 and has made significant contributions to the success of the organization by building a team of skilled professionals. With over 40 years of experience in the building construction industry, Gene has worked tirelessly to create a positive work environment and foster a culture of excellence.

Jake Chamberlin, Vice President, joined LAY Construction in 2013 and was promoted to vice president in 2015. Jake has been instrumental in the company's business development, marketing, and client services capabilities.

C.O. Spurway, Controller, joined LAY Construction in 2021 to lead the Finance and Administrative side of the company. With over 40 years of construction experience, starting as a bricklayer's laborer, C.O. has gained a broad understanding of the industry and is passionate about his Christian faith.
