Empowering young minds, one step at a time.
Located in beautiful Lexington, Kentucky, The Fayette Cooperating Preschool, commonly known as "Co-op, " is a non-profit, non-discriminatory, independent educational institution established in 1951. Our preschool classes are licensed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. We believe that a child's preschool experience should be one in which the foundations are laid for a lifetime of learning through appropriate early childhood educational experiences.
Our Philosophy
At Co-op, we strive to give young children the skills and confidence they need to succeed in life. We believe that a child's preschool experience should be one in which the foundations are laid for a lifetime of learning through early childhood educational experiences. Our philosophy is centered around providing a positive and nurturing environment that supports the social, intellectual, emotional, and physical growth of each child. We recognize that each child is unique and special, with their own strengths, abilities, and needs.
Our Programs
We offer a range of programs to suit the needs and abilities of children of different ages and backgrounds. Our programs include the Explorer program for children who are 2 on August 1, the Preschool program for children ages 3-5 on August 1 (morning and afternoon options), and the LEAP class (Learning Enrichment through Active Play) for children who are in grades K-2, or ages 5-7 on August 1.
Program Highlights
Our programs provide a unique and engaging learning experience for children. In our Explorer program, children learn through play-based activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development. In our Preschool program, children learn skills such as problem-solving, communication, and self-regulation through interactive play and group activities. The LEAP class is a hands-on, multi-sensory, play-based learning program that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts.
Parent Involvement
One of the greatest strengths of our school is the level of parent involvement. We believe that parents play a vital role in their child's education and development. As a parent, you will be involved in all aspects of the school, including classroom work experience, educational opportunities, and facility maintenance. You will have the opportunity to learn alongside your child and become a part of a supportive and collaborative community of parents and educators.
Visiting Co-op
Visiting the classroom is an excellent way to see the hands-on, creative environment that is available to children. Parents are welcome to visit at any time and are encouraged to plan a visit to experience a major portion of the day. During your observation time, you will notice a definite structure to the day, with children initiating learning situations, resolving conflicts, expressing ideas and feelings, and managing their time. You will see many different learning styles being accommodated and creative thinking encouraged.
Donate to the Co-op
It's always a good time to donate to the Co-op! Your tax-deductible gift directly supports our community, helping us to provide financial assistance to families in need. Your donation will be used to purchase new playground equipment for all three campuses. We are grateful for your support and look forward to continuing to provide a high-quality education to children in our community.
