Empowering Young Minds, One Step at a Time

At Rockville Nursery School and Kindergarten, we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the growth and development of young children. Our program is designed to promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, while also encouraging creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning.

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and interactions with their environment, teachers, and peers. We emphasize a play-based approach to learning, where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and express themselves through art, music, movement, and language. Our experienced and dedicated teachers provide guidance and support, while also respecting and valuing each child's unique needs, interests, and strengths.

Our Programs

We offer a range of programs for children from 2 to 5 years old, including our 2-Year-Olds, 3-Year-Olds, Pre-K, and Summer Camp programs. Each program is designed to meet the unique needs and abilities of each age group, while also providing opportunities for socialization, exploration, and skill-building.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Creative Curriculum, which emphasizes a play-based approach to learning. We believe that children learn best through active exploration and experimentation, and therefore, our curriculum is designed to provide ongoing opportunities for children to explore, discover, and learn.

Enrichment Opportunities

In addition to our core program, we also offer a range of enrichment opportunities, including Enrichment Rocks, which provides extracurricular experiences in literature, science, culture, movement, and art.

Our Director

Our Director, Sarah Schmid, has been with Rockville Nursery School and Kindergarten since 2001. She has a dual Bachelor of Arts degree from Frostburg State University in Early Childhood & Elementary Education, as well as graduate coursework from Frostburg State University, Trinity College, and the University of Maryland. With over 20 years of experience in education, Sarah is dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the growth and development of young children.

Our Facilities

Our facilities are designed to provide a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children. Our playgrounds are spacious and well-maintained, with a range of equipment and play areas that cater to different age groups and abilities.

Our Staff

Our staff are experienced, qualified, and passionate about providing high-quality early childhood education. They are committed to creating a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in each child.

Our Community

We believe that our community is an integral part of our program, and we strive to create a sense of belonging and connection among our families, children, and staff. We encourage parental involvement and invite families to participate in classroom activities, special events, and volunteer opportunities.
