Our Philosophy
We believe that early childhood education has two primary goals: to help children function effectively within the world and to help them discover the world within themselves. To achieve these goals, we focus on the development of skills in communication, cognition, creative expression, physical dexterity, as well as social and emotional interaction. Our programs are designed to foster a love of learning, creativity, and self-confidence in each child.
Our Programs
We offer four unique programs designed to meet the childcare and preschool needs of almost every family with children from 6 weeks old until they are ready to enter kindergarten.
First Steps Program
Our First Steps Program is a 12-month, full-time childcare program for families with children from 6 weeks through preschool who need a stimulating, safe, and caring all-day environment for their children to grow and flourish.
School Year Program
Our School Year Program provides a stimulating environment for twos, threes, and fours that meets 2, 3 or 5 days per week. Our calendar coincides with the public school year, and we offer morning classes that meet from 3 1/2 to 4 3/4 hours each day with extended day options from August through June.
Fives Program
Our Fives Program is a NAEYC-accredited Kindergarten program designed for children turning 5 on or before December 31st.
Summer Program
Our Summer Program is an active and exciting program that provides fun-packed days filled with field trips, water activities, and lots of summer fun.
Enrichment Programs
We offer a range of enrichment programs, including Music, Yoga, Tae Kwon Do, and Mad Science, designed to enhance our children's learning experiences.
Our Professional Staff
Our staff is comprised of experienced teachers who are committed to early childhood education and the wellbeing and growth of the children in our care. Our teachers hold various degrees, including Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, and graduate degrees in Early Childhood Education or related fields. Our teachers participate in ongoing training seminars and workshops to ensure that our programs meet the highest standards.
Our Unique Campus
We are located in the heart of Westport, Connecticut, in a unique facility that includes a huge indoor common area and beautiful classroom facilities. Our outdoor space is designed to encourage active play, and our facility is completely fenced and away from traffic.
2024-2025 Applications
We have a space available in our Four's Program, but all other 2024-2025 programs are full. We accept applications for children who have never attended A Child's Place, as well as current students. Please visit our website for more information and to apply.
