At Bates Family Dentistry, we are proud to have been family-owned and operated since 1985. Our story began with Dr. Edsel Bates, Jr.'s passion for dentistry, inspired by his childhood dentist. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievement in the field of Dentistry from the University of Tennessee Memphis, Dr. Bates returned to Nashville to work as an associate at the office of his childhood dentist. He eventually opened his own practice in City Park, where we have proudly served the community for over 30 years.
Our mission is to encourage preventive health and well-being, as well as creating beautiful smiles for our patients. We believe in the importance of whole body preventive health, emphasizing good nutrition, regular physical activity, and consistent home care paired with routine cleanings at our office. We also provide thorough oral cancer screenings with every exam to promote preventive health maintenance.
Our Team
Our team consists of dedicated professionals, each bringing their unique skills and expertise to our practice. Our office manager, Misty Bates, is a certified barre3 instructor and is actively involved in the Juice Plus Company. She is also a certified hygienist and has worked with patients of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Her passion for preventive health is evident in her work, and she takes pride in ensuring every patient leaves our office feeling cared for and informed.
