Corilon violins

Thank you to Corilon and to Dr. Roeben for their time, their help and for providing with such a beautiful instrument. I really fell for the sound that was posted online and I can assure you that it's very representative of what the instrument can produce. The fact that the website is so well designed, so well updated and that Corilon replied within less than an hour to all my emails (even a year after my purchase) shows that it's a very serious house.

I can definitely recommend Corilon to advanced conservatoire students or former students (such as myself). PS. I was a little worried about the concept of shipping a violin, but once you see how well packed it is, you know nothing will happen to it.

My experience has been very pleasant. First, the description on the website was perfectly acurate, so knowing what playing/sound qualities I wanted from the bow, it was easy to select the right one. Then, Corilon's Dr Annette Roeben has been very responsive to my questions. Shipment was fast and the bow was safely packaged. Knowing I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep the bow or send it back feels safe. However, after 3 days, I already know it's the right bow for me, so I've already made my decision to keep it.

They provided me answers to all my questions before the purchase. The delivery was fast, efficient and the violin arrive well packed Regarding the violon, as described with wonderful harmonic, nice red-ish color, even better than expected. I am really satisfy with this violin and will recommend highly this shop.

We have purchased two violins from them. The first was an amazing value for an amazing sounding violin from about 1885. My professional level instructor was very impressed by it. Next we bought one that was not quite what we were looking for, but no worries, their return and exchange policy works just as advertised and we ended up with another excellent violin. We were very happy with the customer service and return policy. And extremely happy with the value and quality of our violins.

I recently bought an antique german violin at Corilon. I'm not an expert but this I can say: the owner Dr Roeben is a very nice and helpfull person. In my opinion, trustworthy. The violin arrived well, and was as described on the website (even more beautifull then on the pictures). They did nothing to hide anything, dr. Roeben was honest about the violin and even mentioned the repair on my violon.

So you know what you buy. No surprises. The audio examples are good, but it depends for a great deal on the audio installation you have at home. So going to the shop is always the best thing you can do. But you can allways return the violin, or trade it in for a better one. So no big worries. They are surely not the only shop around, but a good thing imho is that they have low budget up untill really expensive master violins.

They do not sell only to the happy few. Buying an old/antique violin is in a way a gamble, unless you are an expert, you need to trust the seller. It's the first time I bought from Corilon, and I have the impression that I can trust them. As with anything on the internet, you need to do your homework and ask a second opinion. For what it's worth, I hope my review helps people to find their way to Corilon.

I've had a good experience and can't say anything wrong about them. I hope my experience with them will stay as good as now in the future. Update november 2019: I bought another historic violin from Corilon, and I can confirm, Dr Roeben and her staff are very decent people, really professional. And above all: trustworthy! You can buy from them blindfolded. Their instruments are genuine (this is confirmed to me by a good source), and well maintained. I recommend them warmly!

Took me a long long while of checking on web and ended up placing with Corilon. large selections, good recordings, descriptions on various perspectives of the instrument were very factual and informative, my questions were answered promptly and to the point, Dr Roeben is really professional and won my respect promptly. instrument shipped was exactly as said, label of origin etc and condition was better than what what I have expected, violin condition, bow re-haired both were "like-new" as in antique instrument sense (wish you know what I mean). without asking, the bow was re-confirmed matched with the violin before they were shipped out. shipment was clean and prompt, well packaged including the case etc every step was down to details. i am totally impressed and literally had a big big smile as i opened the package and went through "my precious". i think i was lucky to made the right decision with Corilon. the shopping experience was definitely better than all the other options I came across even local shops you can shop so relax but well informed and can make up decision without undue pressure from sales persons. well deserved a five star and double thumbs up. well done Corilon, please keep up the good work and we'll all be lucky shoppers. have to add price was very competitive too! i will definitely come back on my next purchase (ie for my kids when they are ready)
