I am Sherell Hebert, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S) with a passion for helping individuals navigate the complexities of life and reach their full potential. My journey in the field of mental health began with 16 fulfilling years in education. As a teacher and counselor in various school systems across Louisiana and Texas, I witnessed firsthand the impact of mental well-being on personal growth and academic success. This experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of counseling and therapy in fostering resilience and emotional healing.
Driven by my belief in an integrated approach to mental health, I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and a Master of Science in Human Sciences from the same institution. My extensive training and experience allow me to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and explore the interconnectedness of mind and body through mindfulness and other complementary techniques. My commitment to staying abreast of the latest research and advancements in the field ensures that I offer evidence-based and innovative approaches to counseling.
My Approach to Therapy
My therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. I believe in empowering individuals to become active participants in their healing journey. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. My primary approach is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which focuses on understanding the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through CBT, clients can learn to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop coping strategies for managing anxiety and stress, and cultivate healthier behaviors that promote well-being.
In addition to CBT, I incorporate mind-body techniques such as mindfulness and guided imagery to address the interconnectedness of our physical and emotional states. These techniques can help clients develop a greater awareness of their bodies, manage stress and pain, and cultivate a sense of calm and centeredness.
The Services I Offer
I specialize in working with adolescents and adults who are experiencing a range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety and Stress Disorders: I provide comprehensive support for individuals facing generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, and other anxiety-related concerns.
- Depression: I offer tailored treatment for mild to moderate depression, helping clients identify coping mechanisms, challenge negative thought patterns, and build resilience.
- Adjustment Disorders: Life transitions and significant stressors can take a toll on our emotional well-being. I specialize in supporting individuals through periods of adjustment, enabling them to cope effectively with change and adversity.

I also offer group therapy sessions, providing a supportive community for individuals facing similar challenges.
It's important to note that I am not equipped to provide services for severe mental health conditions such as severe depression, self-harm, or suicidal ideation. If you or someone you know is struggling with these issues, please reach out to a mental health professional who specializes in these areas.
