Our story began with Edward A. McNulty, an ambitious entrepreneur born and raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island. In 1934, Edward purchased 30 acres of land in Cumberland and started a sand and gravel road construction operation called Mack Construction Co. For years, Edward built roadways throughout the Ocean State while developing a portfolio of real estate investments under Mack's sister company, Macklands Realty, Inc.

Edward's son, Ed, joined the business in the 1960s and carried on the company's successful journey. By the 1980s, the sand and gravel business had been phased out, and the company took a new turn. Led by Ed, Macklands Realty staked its claim in the fast-growing subdivision market.

In 1996, Ed's son, Tom McNulty, left corporate America to follow in his father's footsteps and continue building on the foundation his grandfather had laid more than 60 years prior. Tom's vision for the company, eventually rebranded as E.A. McNulty Real Estate, was that it would stay in the subdivision market while branching out into home building and related services ranging from custom home construction and remodeling to sales and leasing.
