Our History

Family Optical Centre was founded by Dr. Thomas J. Ferrara in Belvidere, IL, in 1964. Over the years, the practice has expanded to include two locations, including an eye wear boutique and professional office inside the Schnucks Supermarket on East State Street in Rockford. Dr. Ferrara has accepted associates into his practice since the mid-1990s, and the practice has grown to become one of the most progressive medical optometry practices specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease for patients of all ages.
