Our Story and Mission

Welcome to Ninde Funeral & Cremation, where we have proudly served the Tulsa community since 1939. Our family-owned and operated business has been dedicated to providing compassionate and respectful funeral services to our neighbors in the greater Tulsa area for over 80 years.

Our History

Our journey began when Charles H. Ninde, Sr. was just 12 years old and serving as a pallbearer at a funeral. This experience left a lasting impression on him, and he decided that he wanted to grow up to be just like the fine funeral director who had comforted and guided him and his fellow young friends. Charles went on to work for the Winterringer Funeral Home in Tulsa, where he started as a handyman and eventually became a funeral director.

In 1939, Charles purchased the Martin Fleming Undertaking Co. and renamed it Ninde Funeral Home. His mother, Mary Beatrice (North) Ninde, joined him in the business, and his father, Francis Earl Ninde, soon followed. Charles' father was a bookkeeper for the Wilcox Oil Exploration Co. and later for Douglas Aircraft. Interestingly, Earl Ninde designed and patented a burial vault in 1929, which was manufactured by Edwards Manufacturing Co. in Ohio.

Over the years, Ninde Funeral Home grew and expanded to meet the needs of the growing city of Tulsa. In 1957, the family acquired the Golden Drumstick Restaurant in the Brookside area, and later built a new funeral home and chapel in the Turley area of north Tulsa. In 1968, Charles acquired the Hendrick's Funeral Home in Jenks, Oklahoma, south of Tulsa.
