Education and Licenses

John M. Montgomery obtained his J.D. from the University of Oregon College of Law and his B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University. He is licensed by the Supreme Court, State of Colorado, and is admitted to practice law before all courts of general and administrative jurisdiction, including the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

Biography

John M. Montgomery is a Colorado native who began his trial and legal counseling practice in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1990. He initially defended numerous criminal cases, including theft, burglary, criminal mischief, and assault cases. He also handled many different types of civil claims, including personal injury cases, contract disputes, family law, and regulatory issues.

In 1996, John moved to Denver, Colorado, where he served as staff counsel at Pinnacol Assurance in Denver, Colorado, defending workers' compensation claims. In 2001, he relocated to Louisiana, where he continued his career in insurance claims investigation and defense, including maritime accidents and injuries, fraud and theft claims, and civil rights claims.

John returned to Denver in 2010 and joined the Elder Law and Trust & Estate sections of the Colorado Bar Association. In 2014, he opened a full-service transactional and civil litigation law office in Del Norte, Colorado. Since 2018, this law firm has focused on estate planning, probate administration and litigation, accepting private fiduciary cases, adult protection, and real estate cases.
