With an MFA in Photography and a Ph. D. in Communication, our founder and lead visual journalist, Tara Pixley, brings over two decades of experience to the table, having worked with top-tier clients such as the New York Times, NPR, and ESPN.

Our Expertise

As a queer, first-generation Jamaican-American, Tara Pixley brings a unique perspective to her work, with a deep understanding of the visual rhetorics of immigration, borders, Blackness, LGBTQ+ communities, diaspora, and the Global South. Her visual work reframes race, gender, climate futures, LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities through a liberation lens. Whether it's documenting environmental justice issues, capturing the beauty of dance, or creating thought-provoking portraits, we are committed to creating content that sparks conversation and inspires change.
