The Barnes Agency, the parent company of Barnes Health, was founded in May 2003. The agency's sole owner, president, and founder, Jeffrey M. Barnes, armed with 30 years of nationally-recognized non-profit and for-profit hospital system marketing and public relations experience, decided after years of research that a need existed in the region for an agency that specialized in healthcare marketing and public relations. Nearly 17 years later, Barnes Agency still specializes in healthcare marketing but has expanded in size, scope, and quality to successfully serve a variety of non-profit organizations, the legal industry, the banking industry, the tourism industry, retail and manufacturing businesses, the education sector and university athletics.
