Our Story

Grand View Funeral Home & Burial Park has been a guiding presence in the Hannibal community for over 85 years. Our story began in 1934, when the Industrial Development Corporation developed the sprawling burial park as a memorial to the fallen. The park was designed to offer a peaceful and serene environment, where families could come to pay their respects to their loved ones.

Our History

Our journey began with a vision to create a tranquil oasis where families could mourn the loss of a loved one. The park's early days were marked by innovation and entrepreneurship. In the 1930s, the corporation employed a barter system to clear the land, build roads, and develop the park. Trucking companies supplied equipment and materials in exchange for burial plots. The first burial took place on May 11, 1934, and by the end of the year, 22 burials had been performed.

As the park grew, so did its popularity. Over the next five years, the number of burials tripled. In the 1960s, the Industrial Development Corporation sold Grand View Burial Park to Hillard B. Crowell, and our business offices relocated to a new building on the park's grounds. Since then, we've continued to evolve, making improvements and adding new features to ensure a peaceful and dignified experience for families.
