Our Story

Founded in 2013 by husband-and-wife duo Troy Hakala and Gay Gilmore, Optimism Brewing Company is the brainchild of two passionate beer enthusiasts who sought to bring a taste of the city's best to their beloved Capitol Hill neighborhood. With a focus on community, comfort, and a commitment to donating 18.5% of our profits and 2% of our income to charitable causes each year, we aim to be more than just a brewery - we're a movement.
