What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine technique that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. These points correspond to energy pathways, or meridians, that run throughout the body. By stimulating these points, acupuncture can help restore balance and promote the free flow of energy, or Qi, throughout the body. This, in turn, can help alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health and well-being.

Modern research has shown that acupuncture can have a variety of physiological effects on the body, including:

  • Increasing blood flow to specific areas of the body
  • Stimulating the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain-relieving hormones
  • Regulating hormone levels
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Promoting relaxation and reducing stress

Your First Visit

At your first visit to Lifetime Acupuncture, we will take a thorough medical history and perform a physical examination to determine the root cause of your health issues. We will then develop a personalized treatment plan that may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle recommendations. During your acupuncture treatment, you will lie comfortably on a treatment table while thin needles are inserted into specific points on your body. The needles are usually left in place for 15-30 minutes, during which time you may experience a sensation of warmth, tingling, or slight discomfort.
