Halflants & Pichette

Halflants + Pichette is an award-winning modern design-build studio with offices in Sarasota and Tampa. Our goal is to create thoughtful, high-quality modern architecture that responds to context and function. Our collaborative approach to modern architecture is process-oriented and deliberately avoids preconceived solutions.

We treasure the diversity of our firm. We are 50% women, hail from nine countries across four continents, and speak five different languages. The firm's work is centered primarily on housing projects and single-family residences, many of which are carried out as design-build ventures.

Since its inception, the firm was honored with over fifty American Institute of Architects awards, more than any other practice in the State of Florida. The practice has also garnered five national medals from the Association of Licensed Architects as well as the Tampa Bay AIA Firm of the Year award.

Halflants+ Pichette Studio for Modern Architecture has been recognized in the professional press at both state and national levels. The work was published in nine issues of the Florida Caribbean Architect, the quarterly regional publication of the AIA. On four separate occasions, a residence completed by Halflants + Pichette was featured as the publication's cover. The work has also been illustrated in Dwell Magazine, AIArchitect, and Residential Architect.

In 2017, the AIA honored John Pichette with the Annual Builder of the Year award for the State of Florida. The following year, Michael Halflants was recognized with the AIA Florida Medal of Honor for Design, the highest award for a design that AIA Florida can bestow on an architect.

Our Services

Halflants + Pichette provides a range of services that include architectural design, interior design, master planning, and full construction services. We offer our services in English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Arabic.

Our Team

Our team is led by Design Principal Michael Halflants, FAIA, and Founder John Pichette, AIA. Tara Williams, AIA, serves as the Tampa Director, while Melanie Como Harris is the Sarasota Studio Director. The rest of our team consists of experienced architects, project managers, and designers who are passionate about creating modern, thoughtful, and high-quality architecture.
