For over 39 years, Mangum Pottery has been a staple in the Asheville area pottery scene. Our story began with Rob and Beth Mangum, who come from a long line of potters. Their creative process is guided by the clay itself, through years of studying the nature of the materials. The Mangums strive to find the union between heritage and contemporary design.

Our History

Our journey began when Rob's parents started a pottery studio over 40 years ago. Rob and Beth met while studying at North Carolina State University School of Design, where Rob studied graphics and illustration, and Beth focused on fibers and surface design. Beth grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, and Rob began making pottery in his parents' studio.

Our Process

At Mangum Pottery Studio and Gallery, we believe that every piece of pottery is a work of art. Our process begins with the clay, allowing us to understand its properties and characteristics. We strive to create functional and beautiful pieces that can be passed down through generations. From the initial throwing of the clay to the final firing process, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of ceramic art.

Our Products

Our products range from traditional wares such as dinnerware, mugs, and bowls, to more unique pieces like banjos and ceramic furniture. Each piece is crafted with care and attention to detail, making every creation a unique work of art. Our ceramics are not only functional but also beautiful, making them a perfect addition to any home or office.
