We are a firm located in Charlottesville, Virginia, founded to bridge the divide between a small organization's extraordinary responsiveness and a larger one's knowledge and depth. We started small, with our first project being a steel birdhouse designed for a charity auction in 1992, followed by winning a competition for the public amphitheater in Charlottesville. Today, most of our built work is in Virginia, but we also have clients and projects in California.

Our architectural ventures are deliberate, collaborative, and thoughtful. Each project is a response to a singular location, a particular climate, and the intentions of a unique client. We believe that design is a dialogue between the client and the designer, between the landscape and the building, and between the sun and the shadows on a wall. Our work ranges from the scale of a landscape to new buildings, to interventions within old structures.

We have received numerous awards and recognition for our projects, including the Award of Honor for the Heirloom Farm Studio from AIA Virginia, the Winner of the Small Buildings category at the World Design Awards, and the Winner of the Small Architecture category at the Architecture MasterPrize. These accolades demonstrate our commitment to creating innovative and context-sensitive designs that not only meet but exceed our clients' expectations.
