Why Treat Periodontal Disease?

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a serious condition that affects not only your oral health but also your overall health. It is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and it has been linked to several serious medical conditions, including diabetes, respiratory infections, cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney disease, osteoporosis, and dementia. People with periodontal disease are at a higher risk for these conditions, making it crucial to treat and control the disease to improve overall health.

Treatment Options

At our practice, we offer a variety of periodontal treatment options, including both surgical and nonsurgical therapies. Each treatment plan is individualized to meet the specific needs of each patient. Our nonsurgical treatments include scaling and root planing, which involves removing tartar and bacteria from your tooth surfaces and below the gumline. This can help to reduce inflammation and prevent the progression of gum disease.

In addition to nonsurgical treatments, we also offer surgical therapies such as pocket reduction procedures, regeneration, and dental implants. These procedures can help to restore the health and function of your teeth and gums, improving both your oral health and overall health.

Our office is conveniently located in the US Bank Building at 2620 Stewart Avenue in Wausau, Wisconsin. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
