Our History

Founded in 2008 by Allan W. Pruss, PE, PS, Monument Engineering Group Associates, Inc. (MEGA) emerged from a dedication to providing exceptional service across all major site development disciplines. Guided by the core values and principles instilled by military service, MEGA has continually strived for excellence and growth. Over the past decade-plus, MEGA has blossomed from a small team of three employees to a thriving organization with over 30 members. This expansion has been marked by a geographic reach that now encompasses offices in Fowlerville, Portage, and Northern Michigan, solidifying our commitment to serving clients across the state.

Our journey has been shaped by strategic acquisitions that have not only strengthened our capabilities but also reflected our dedication to upholding the highest standards within the industry. MEGA's acquisition of Hughes Land Surveyors in Fowlerville in 2010 marked our first step towards establishing a comprehensive service portfolio. The passing of Robert Carr, a prominent professional surveyor, in late 2020 led us to acquire his legacy firm, Carr & Associates Land Surveying in Battle Creek, further solidifying our presence in the Western Michigan region. In mid-2021, the acquisition of Ingersoll, Watson, and MacMachen, a respected civil engineering and land surveying firm in Portage, Michigan, significantly expanded our expertise and service offerings. This journey culminated in 2022 with our partnership with Boardman Area Surveying & Mapping in Northern Michigan, extending our reach and impact across the entire state.

• Aerial Services: Leveraging cutting-edge drone technology, MEGA provides high-precision aerial data capture and analysis. Our advanced remote sensors allow us to gather millions of data points in a single flight, creating geo-referenced digital images with exceptional accuracy. This innovative platform enables us to efficiently map vast terrains, assess infrastructure, and streamline site surveys.

• Civil Engineering / Planning: From initial site planning to comprehensive infrastructure design, MEGA's experienced civil engineers provide holistic solutions tailored to each project's unique requirements. Our team excels in developing detailed plans, managing complex construction projects, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. We specialize in master planning, site design, drainage analysis, road and utility design, and construction administration.

• Land Surveying: MEGA's expert land surveyors combine traditional techniques with advanced technology to deliver precise and dependable results. Utilizing Global Positioning Systems (GPS), electronic data collectors, and drones, our team accurately measures and maps land boundaries, elevations, and infrastructure features. We provide boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction surveys, and as-built surveys to support a wide range of projects.

• Federal Contracting: MEGA possesses extensive expertise in federal contracting, serving government agencies across various sectors. Our team has a proven track record of successfully managing projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), General Services Administration (GSA), and other federal institutions.

• Seismic Services: MEGA conducts both 2D and 3D seismic surveys, covering areas from 1 square mile to 1,000 miles and from 1 square to 20 squares respectively. Our team utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and experienced personnel to accurately analyze subsurface geological formations, providing valuable data for oil and gas exploration, geotechnical engineering projects, and environmental assessments.

• Geotechnical Engineering: MEGA's geotechnical engineers specialize in understanding the characteristics of soil and rock formations to ensure the safe and stable construction of structures. We conduct comprehensive site investigations, including soil sampling, testing, and analysis, to assess bearing capacity, groundwater conditions, and seismic stability. Our expertise helps mitigate risks and optimize design solutions for various civil engineering projects.
