Renaissance School

Welcome to the Renaissance Preschool, where we provide a warm and caring environment that fosters a love of learning in children. We are conveniently located on the northern edge of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus, in the lower level of Immanuel Lutheran Church, making it easy for us to take advantage of the numerous resources and opportunities that the University and surrounding community have to offer. Our preschool is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

At the Renaissance Preschool, we believe that children and teachers should learn together as they co-construct and research topics of interest as partners. Our curriculum is designed to help children develop creativity, compassion for others and the world around them, and a rich sense of inquiry and problem-solving skills. Both children and teachers initiate the topics we explore, wonder about, and discuss in our preschool classrooms. Our teachers pose thought-provoking questions that spark interest, stimulate inquiry, and encourage investigation, helping children develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Our Staff

Each of our classrooms is staffed by two experienced, certified preschool educators and two to four student interns. Our teachers are dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child. We believe that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences, and our teachers provide a variety of opportunities for children to explore and learn at their own pace.

Admissions

Children attend preschool three or four mornings a week, and may begin as soon as they become 2.9 years old, anytime throughout the academic year. We invite interested parents to come for a visit and learn more about our program. We are currently accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year, and encourage interested parents to contact us to set up a time to visit.

Toddler Time

We are excited to offer Toddler Time, a fun "pre" preschool experience for your almost preschooler! Our three-week sessions are offered each fall and spring for older toddlers aged 26-33 months, and a parent. Young preschoolers are also welcome to attend. Each session provides children and parents an opportunity to meet and play together in a slightly structured setting. It's a nice way to introduce your "almost" preschooler to life at preschool. Parents are welcome to observe our preschool classroom, meet the staff, and learn more about us when they attend Toddler Time. The cost is $25.00 for the session (includes all three classes). We also offer individual classes for $10.00 each, if you're unable to sign up for a full session.

Our preschool hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, September - May. We offer a variety of scheduling options to meet the needs of our families, and encourage parents to contact us to learn more.
