Appoquinimink Counseling Services

Appoquinimink Counseling Services, LLC was established in 2008 by Dawn Schatz, LCSW, to provide quality, personal outpatient mental health counseling services in the Middletown community. Dawn chose the name "Appoquinimink" for its local relevance and familiarity. The practice offers individual counseling for adolescents and adults, with the possibility of family and couples counseling on a case-by-case basis for existing individual clients, their partners, and other family members. Services focus on various areas such as relationships, anxiety, sexual orientation, trauma, life transitions, work/family balance, dating and domestic abuse, self-esteem, depression, loss and grief, and overall emotional wellness. Dawn Schatz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), certified as a Domestic Violence Specialist, and a certified Gestalt Therapist. She has extensive experience working with individuals on a wide range of issues and is dedicated to ensuring each client receives a personalized and welcoming experience.

Meet Dawn

Dawn Schatz holds a Master's degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She is certified as a Domestic Violence Specialist and a certified Gestalt Therapist. Dawn works with adolescents and adults on issues including relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, sexual orientation, loss and grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and abuse. She particularly enjoys working with college students and young adults to develop resources and skills for a healthy transition into adulthood. Dawn has spent years developing Delaware's only youth dating violence intervention program and has provided therapy services for hundreds of individuals in abusive relationships. She is also a proponent of self-care and compassion, continually seeking to slow down and be in the moment.
