Sunny Hill Pre-School

Sunny Hill Preschool, located in Sudbury, MA, has been a pioneer in early childhood education since its inception in 1958. As a non-profit organization, we are committed to providing a high-quality, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for families in Sudbury and the surrounding communities. Our play-based program is carefully designed to combine preparation for kindergarten with an emphasis on a child's social and emotional development.

Curriculum

Sunny Hill Preschool follows a child-centered, play-based philosophy. We believe in a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters children's emotional, social, physical, and cognitive skills. Our curriculum is shaped by experienced early childhood educators and is guided by standards of developmentally appropriate practice, recommendations from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and Guidelines for Preschool Curriculum Experiences. We incorporate The Creative Curriculum and the Handwriting Without Tears Program into our daily activities. Our goal is to promote learning through the joy of discovery.

Our curriculum focuses on developing a love of learning, respect, cooperation, leadership, an ability to make choices, pride in individual accomplishments, and problem-solving skills. We prepare children for elementary school and beyond while nurturing and challenging them as they move towards greater independence.

Facilities

Our preschool is located in a bright and sunny building with six classrooms and a large classroom for our Stay, Play & Learn program. Each classroom includes quiet areas with books, manipulatives, and blocks, as well as spaces for dramatic play, science, math, and art. Our facilities are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and learning.

We are proud to have a beautiful, fenced-in playground with age-appropriate equipment that allows children to play and learn in a safe and stimulating environment. We also have a garden where children can learn about nature and the environment.

Staff

Our team of experienced and professional early childhood educators is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. We have low teacher-to-student ratios, which allows us to provide individualized attention to each child. Our staff members are dedicated to fostering a love of learning and promoting each child's social and emotional development.

Programs

We offer programs for children who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1st, and for children who turn 2.9 during the school year. Our programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which sets professional standards for early education programs.

In addition to our regular programs, we offer summer sessions that are theme-based and staffed by Sunny Hill employees. These sessions provide children with the opportunity to spend more time at Sunny Hill and continue learning during the summer months.

Stay, Play, and Learn

Our Stay, Play, and Learn program is designed for children who are not yet ready for a full-day program. This program provides a flexible schedule for parents and allows children to gradually adjust to a school environment.
