Welcome to Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home, a business that has been serving the Monticello community and beyond for over 90 years. Our funeral home was established in 1928 by Edward Lee Stephenson and has since been passed down through four generations of the Stephenson and Dearman families. We take great pride in our long-standing history of providing compassionate and personalized services to every family we serve.

Our History

Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home was originally established as a funeral home and furniture store on the square in downtown Monticello. Over the years, the business has evolved into a sophisticated and advanced institution that continues to provide the same level of care and reverence that was established by its founders.

Edward Lee Stephenson, the founder of our funeral home, moved to Drew County at the age of eleven and was reared in the Green Hill community. After his passing, the funeral home was owned and operated by his son, Raymond, and his wife, Frances Raoul Stephenson. Following their deaths, Charles "Charlie Fred" Dearman took over the business and ran it for some 50 years. Today, Chuck Dearman, the fourth-generation, sole owner, carries on the family tradition with the same level of reverence and care that has been the hallmark of our business since its inception.
