Margaret Martin, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of clinical experience providing trauma-informed therapy to individuals and couples. Her psychotherapy practice focuses on individuals in transition who seek balance, wholeness, and healing. With a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin, Margaret has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, group, couple, and family therapy settings.

  • Trauma Recovery: Margaret is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT) to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences.

  • PACT Couple Therapy: Margaret is trained in Stan Tatkin's Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), which focuses on strengthening relationships and improving communication between partners.
  • Childbirth Preparation & Recovery: Margaret provides therapy to expectant mothers and new parents navigating the challenges of childbirth and parenthood.
  • Female Pelvic Pain: Margaret offers therapy to individuals experiencing chronic pelvic pain, providing a safe and supportive environment to explore the emotional and physical aspects of this condition.
  • Chronic Pain & Illness: Margaret works with individuals living with chronic pain or illness, helping them develop coping strategies and improve their overall well-being.

Our Approach

Margaret's therapeutic approach is based on psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory, object relations theory, and interpersonal neurobiology. She incorporates a variety of therapeutic interventions, including Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), radical acceptance, and mindfulness practice. Margaret's role in the therapeutic relationship is that of a compassionate trail guide, working collaboratively with clients to challenge defenses and beliefs that perpetuate suffering and prevent growth.
