At Village Preschool of Portland, our philosophy is simple: we believe that children learn best through play. Our cooperative preschool has been a staple in the Portland community for over 65 years, providing a nurturing environment where children can grow and thrive. We believe that children learn by doing, and our experienced teachers and dedicated parents work together to create a stimulating environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and socialization.

Our Classrooms

Our classrooms are designed to foster creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning. Our two classrooms, the Block room and Art room, offer a variety of materials and activities that encourage children to explore and learn at their own pace. Our experienced teachers and assistants create a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes every child feel welcome and valued.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in children aged 3 to 6 years old. Our Junior program is designed for children aged 3-4 years, while our Senior program is designed for children aged 4 and above. Our curriculum is play-based, meaning that children learn through play and exploration rather than rigid lesson plans. Our teachers act as facilitators, guiding children through activities and providing support as needed.

Our Community

At Village Preschool of Portland, we believe that community is key to successful learning. That's why we encourage parents to get involved in the school through our parent education programs, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising events. We believe that families are an integral part of the learning process, and we offer a range of programs to support parents in their role as educators and caregivers.

Parent Education

Our parent education program offers a range of activities and workshops designed to support parents in their role as caregivers. Our Parent Education evenings offer a relaxed and intimate setting where parents can ask questions, share their concerns, and gain insight and feedback from our experienced teachers and assistants.

Donate

We rely on the generosity of our community to support our school. Your donation will help us continue to provide a high-quality education to our children. Every donation, big or small, helps us to maintain our classrooms, update our materials, and provide the best possible learning experience for our children.
