Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (GSIVC) is a unique grassroots organization in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where concerned neighbors come together to support and empower our elderly and disabled residents. We believe in nurturing independence, dignity, and a sense of community for all.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide informal volunteer caregiving to homebound seniors and disabled individuals of all ages. We aim to:
- Promote independence and security by offering essential assistance with daily tasks and errands.
- Enhance well-being through friendly visits, companionship, and emotional support.
- Bridge gaps in access to crucial resources and connect individuals with necessary services.
What We Do
Our dedicated volunteers offer a diverse range of services to meet diverse needs, including:
- Friendly in-person visits or phone calls to combat isolation and maintain social connection
- Minor home repairs to ensure safe and comfortable living environments
- Grocery and medication deliveries to eliminate transportation barriers
- Medical equipment lending of wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids
- Transportation assistance to medical appointments, errands, and social outings
