Christian Day Child Academy

Welcome to Christian Day Child Academy (CDCA), a place where children can learn, discover, and create in a Christ-centered environment. Our mission is to glorify God by nurturing the spiritual growth and academic development of children with Biblical truth in a Christ-centered environment. Established in 1971 by JaNette & Lloyd Flogstad, CDCA has been upholding the school's founding principles and providing early learning experiences enriched with Biblical truth for over five decades. As a ministry of Minnesota Valley Free Lutheran Church, we strive to maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1 to 5 and employ skilled teachers with a strong love for and background in working with children. Our teachers include Cheryl Ladendorf, DeVon Sadowski, Tanya Grawe, Kathy Osthus, Jennifer Koles, and Rebekah Olson.

Our Objectives

At CDCA, we aim to provide a comprehensive learning program that stimulates spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. We believe that every child can grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man, just like Jesus did. Our curriculum fosters an academic foundation for all future school experiences and encourages growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We offer appropriate indoor and outdoor play experiences that contribute to a child's total development and promote the development of curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Our preschool also helps children learn and develop social skills, personal responsibilities, self-discipline, control, and confidence.

Our Staff

Our staff at CDCA comprises skilled teachers with a strong love for and background in working with children. Here are our teachers:

• Pre-K 3 Class (3-year-olds - Tuesday/Thursday mornings) - Our lead teacher is Rebekah Olson, who has a degree in elementary education from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul. She is assisted by Cheryl Ladendorf, our Assistant Director, who has 28 years of experience with Christian Day and an Associate Degree in Child Development from Dakota County Technical College. Tanya Grawe also assists in the 3-year-old class, and she has a B.A. in biology and education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, and this is her 13th year at CDCA.
• Pre-K 4 Class (4-year-olds - Tuesday/Thursday mornings) - Our lead teacher is DeVon Sadowski, who has a B.A. in elementary education from Concordia College in St. Paul, MN, and 25 years of experience at CDCA. She is assisted by Kathy Osthus, who has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Normandale Community College and has been with CDCA for over 20 years.
• Pre-K 5 Class (5-year-olds - Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings) - Our lead teacher is Jennifer Koles, who has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Normandale Community College and has been with CDCA for over 15 years. She is assisted by Cheryl Ladendorf and Rebekah Olson.
