Our Cuisine
Our cuisine revolves around Oregon's superb wild mushrooms, local ingredients, and Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. We invite you to explore our menu, featuring dishes such as Heidi's Three Mushroom Tart and Joe's Wild Mushroom Soup. Each dish is crafted with the finest ingredients, showcasing the incredible flavors of Oregon.
Willamette Valley Wine
The Joel Palmer House has the largest collection of Willamette Valley wines of any restaurant on earth. Our Pinot Noir selections invite guests to explore the incredible diversity of the place our family has called home for almost three decades. We do not publish our wine list as individual selections are regularly arriving and selling out. We feature over 600 wines and our entire list is a selection of wines exclusively from Oregon dating back to 1994.

Our History
Our family business took shape in 1916 when Joseph Czarnecki, the great-grandfather of our current chef-proprietor Christopher Czarnecki, opened Joe's Tavern in Reading, Pennsylvania. The simple menu catered primarily to Joseph's fellow Polish immigrants and featured bowls of wild mushroom soup for 20 cents. In 1945, Joseph's son, Joseph Jr., carried on the tradition but transformed the original tavern into a restaurant. His wife, Marie, added her own touch with homemade pierogies and other traditional Polish dishes. This family tradition continued with Joseph Jr.'s son, Stephen, who expanded the restaurant and introduced a wider variety of dishes, including steak and seafood. In 1996, Christopher Czarnecki took over the family business and brought it to Oregon, where he opened the Joel Palmer House in Dayton.
