South Mountain Christian Camp

Since 1974, South Mountain Christian Camp has been providing an exceptional camp experience for children, youth, and groups of all ages. Our mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ with all who come to our camp, and we are committed to providing a safe, fun, and memorable experience for everyone who visits us.

Summer Camp

Our summer camp programs are designed for children and youth between the ages of 7 and 15. We offer six one-week residential Summer Camp sessions, and we are dedicated to making sure that every camper has an unforgettable experience. Our camp activities include swimming, hiking, games, sports, and crafts, and we also provide opportunities for campers to grow spiritually through daily chapel services and Bible study. Financial assistance is available for those who need it, and we believe that every child should have the opportunity to attend camp.

SEEDS Nature Program

Our S.E.E.D.S. (South Mountain Environmental and Discovery School) nature program offers hands-on school field trips for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. These field trips are designed to teach students about the natural world and to help them develop a love and appreciation for God's creation. Our experienced staff provides interactive lessons and activities that are both fun and educational.

Group Retreats

South Mountain Christian Camp is the perfect place for group retreats. We offer a variety of lodging, recreation, and meals services for groups all year long. Our facilities include dormitories, cabins, and a lodge, and we can accommodate up to 200 guests. We also have a ropes course, a swimming pool, a fishing pond, and a golf driving range, and we can provide customized programing to meet the needs of any group.

Ropes Course

Our ropes course is a highlight of our camp experience. Designed to build teamwork, cooperation, and key character qualities, our ropes course programs are available for our overnight guests and day groups. We offer a variety of courses and challenges that are both fun and empowering, and our experienced staff provides a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

Facilities and Map

Our camp is located on an 80-acre tract of land in western North Carolina, and we have a variety of facilities to meet the needs of our guests. Our map includes points of interest such as our Administration Building/Camp Offices, Picnic Shelter/Playground/Bathhouse, Glory Land Cabin, Ballfields, Joy Center, Observation Deck, Jericho Cabin Site, Fishing Pond, Engedi Cabin Site, Pritchard Lodge, Elli Will Lodge, Ropes Course, Dewey Fern Lodge/Greenway Building, Cafeteria, Swimming Pool/Volleyball Court, Lake Galilee, Prayer Garden, Golf Driving Range, Staff Housing/Private Residence, and Maintenance Area.

Our History

South Mountain Christian Camp was established in the late 1960's by O.A. Fish, an Eastern Airlines pilot, and his wife Charlotte. Inspirited by the words of Jesus in Luke 18:16, they built the camp with the goal of sharing the love of Jesus Christ with all who came to the camp. The camp started with a few tents set up on a hillside and has since grown to include a variety of facilities and program offerings. Today, the camp continues to be run by the Fish family and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
