Sardella's is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been serving the Newport community and its visitors for over four decades. Founded in 1980 by the former mayor of Newport, Richard Sardella, and currently owned by Richard Sardella and Patrick Fitzgerald, Sardella's has established itself as a local favorite and a must-visit destination for Italian cuisine lovers. Our restaurant specializes in Northern and Southern Italian cuisine, with many of the recipes on our menu coming from the Sardella and Imbriglio families.

Meet Our Chef: Kevin Fitzgerald

Our Executive Chef, Kevin Fitzgerald, is a Newport native who has been with Sardella's for the past 17 years. Kevin started his culinary journey in high school, where he discovered his passion for cooking. He honed his skills at Barclay's Restaurant in Newport, where he apprenticed under Master Chef Helmut Eckart and became his Sous Chef at the age of 17. Kevin's talent and dedication led him to accept the Head Chef position at Sardella's at the age of 18, making him the youngest Head Chef in Rhode Island at the time. Kevin's leadership and culinary expertise have been instrumental in Sardella's numerous awards and recognitions, including being named the "Best Italian Restaurant" by R.I. Monthly and Newport Life Magazines.
