Our Philosophy

We also draw inspiration from Buddhism and the Greek philosophy of holistic well-being, focusing on the development of body, mind, and spirit. This comprehensive approach allows us to provide a nurturing environment that supports your physical, mental, and emotional growth.
History of Pilates
Joseph Hubertus Pilates was born on December 9th, 1883, near Dusseldorf Germany in a small town named Monchengladbach. As a child, he suffered from various ailments such as asthma, rheumatic fever, and rickets, which led him to explore and develop his unique exercise method. Integrating various disciplines, including anatomy and the movement of animals and children, he refined his techniques during his time in England and while interned as a German "enemy alien" during World War I. This period saw the creation of some of the apparatus we know today, such as the reformer and magic circle. Upon returning to Germany, Pilates worked as a physical trainer and healer before moving to New York City with his future wife, Clara. Together, they established a studio and cultivated a dedicated following of dancers, performers, and athletes, who recognized the benefits of the Pilates Method for both total body conditioning and injury rehabilitation.
