Inspiring People to Discover Why Design Matters
The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire people to discover why design matters. We believe that architecture and design have the power to transform lives and communities. Founded in 1966, the CAC has been a leading voice in the architectural community for over five decades. We are committed to providing educational programs and resources that foster public appreciation for Chicago's rich architectural heritage and promote excellence in design.
Our History
The CAC was founded as the Chicago Committee on Architecture by a group of architects and civic leaders who wanted to promote public awareness of Chicago's architectural heritage. In 1979, the organization became known as the Chicago Architecture Foundation and expanded its programs to include tours, exhibitions, and educational resources for schools and teachers. In 2018, the organization was renamed the Chicago Architecture Center to reflect its broader mission and scope of work.
