He began his practice in Phoenix in 1977 and later expanded to Prescott, where he built a successful practice that his son, Dr. John Knochel, has continued.
Dr. Joseph Knochel was the first podiatric surgeon admitted to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center and was a clinician for the USC Podiatry Program. He was married with two grown sons, James and John, and two step-children. Dr. Joseph Knochel enjoyed exercising his dogs, Sophie and Sam, and had a passion for sailing near San Diego.
