Protect, Preserve, and Maximize Your True Wealth
At Montessori Lab School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing, consistent, safe, and peaceful environment for children to learn and grow. Our mission is to serve the total developmental needs of children, building their academic, emotional, moral, and social skills. We believe in fostering a love of learning, self-reliance, and independence in our students.
Our History
Montessori Lab School has been serving Hampton Roads since 1977. We are the longest-running Montessori school in the area, and we take pride in our commitment to providing high-quality education to our students. Our school is based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, who believed that the goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn.
Our Programs
We offer two main programs for children: Pre-School Programs and Elementary Program.
Pre-School Programs
Our Pre-School Programs are designed for children aged 2-5. We provide a non-conventional Early Childhood Education through our half- and full-day bilingual programs. These programs foster the love of learning, self-reliance, and independence in our students.
Elementary Program
Our Elementary Program is designed for children aged 6-11. We provide a full-day Elementary Education program that meets the intellectual, emotional, and cultural needs of our students. This program is designed to help our students develop their academic, emotional, and cultural skills.
Admissions Process
Our admissions process is designed to ensure that we can provide the best possible education for your child. The process includes the following steps:
1. Call or fill out our contact form to express your interest in our school.
2. Schedule a parent interview and tour of our facilities.
3. Complete an application and questionnaire.
4. Schedule a student interview.
Once these steps are completed, we will review your application and make a decision regarding admission.
International Focus
At Montessori Lab School, we believe in the importance of cultural education. That's why we offer a bilingual education in English and Spanish, as well as cultural studies and multi-cultural events. We also provide opportunities for our students to engage in performing arts, including music, choreography, and drama.
Character Building
We believe that character building is an essential part of education. That's why we focus on teaching our students important life skills such as decision making, organization, time management, self-control, leadership, communication, citizenship, and community service. We also place a strong emphasis on emotional development, ensuring that our students are well-rounded and prepared for life's challenges.
Academic Studies
Our academic studies include sciences and mathematics, language arts (reading and writing), geography, and history. We believe in providing a well-rounded education that prepares our students for success in all areas of life.
School Calendar
Our school operates on a Monday-Friday schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., September through June. We believe in providing a consistent and structured environment for our students, which helps them develop good habits and a strong work ethic.
