We wouldn't have it any other way, and neither should you.

Our History

Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. has served the Dansville community with compassion and care for generations. Our roots stretch back to 1937 when Tony Mark and Effie Grover established a funeral home at 253 Main Street. This later became the Grover-Wood Funeral Home, operated by Effie Grover and Ivan Wood. Upon Mr. Wood's passing, Mrs. Grover continued the business until 1954 when she sold her interest to Theodore E. Baird, marking the beginning of the Baird Funeral Service era.

In 1966, Walter E. (Gene) Baird acquired the business from his brother, and eventually, partnered with Mr. Hindle, forming the Baird-Hindle Funeral Home. Mr. Hindle eventually purchased his partner's share, leading to the establishment of Hindle Funeral Home as we know it today.

Ed and Jo Ann Hindle ran the funeral home until their son, Carl, and his wife Lisa, took over in 1995. Carl, a graduate of Dansville Central Schools and Simmons School of Mortuary Science, joined the family business in 1988. Building on the foundation laid by his parents and grandfather, Carl continues the legacy of compassionate service at Hindle Funeral Home.

Lisa, also an integral part of the family team, is a licensed cosmetologist and assists Carl in the day-to-day operations. Together, they ensure that each family who walks through the doors of Hindle Funeral Home receives personalized care and attention during their time of need. In July 2012, Carl's son, Christian, joined the team, becoming the third generation of Hinddles to serve the community. Christian, a graduate of Simmons School of Funeral Science, brings renewed energy and dedication to the family tradition.
