Transforming your outdoor space, enhancing your lifestyle.
Mandy Kruger, the heart and soul behind Yoga Somatic Therapy, has cultivated a deep fascination with alternative healing modalities and mind-body practices throughout her life. Growing up in the dynamic and often contrasting landscape of Las Vegas, Mandy felt drawn to explore a more holistic and meaningful existence. A pivotal moment arrived with a motorcycle accident in her late teens, resulting in a cervical spine injury. This experience propelled her westward to the Pacific Northwest in search of healing and found solace in the transformative power of yoga, Chinese Medicine, massage therapy, and holistic nutrition. These modalities became cornerstones in her recovery journey, igniting a passion to further delve into these wisdom-based systems.
Mandy's commitment to learning led her to Thailand, where she completed a rigorous 500-hour comprehensive yoga teacher training in 2002. Yearning for deeper understanding, she then journeyed to India, immersing herself in a six-month study of Ayurveda's fundamental principles. In 2006, she earned her massage therapy license at East West College in Portland, Oregon. Seeking to integrate her diverse passions, Mandy pursued a Masters degree in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara in 2012.
Her quest for knowledge continues, with ongoing studies under the guidance of esteemed teachers and contemporary evolutionary thinkers in the field of alternative medicine and yoga. Currently, a profound influence comes from her yoga practice, mentored by Sundernath (Shandor Remete) and Emma Balnaves of the Shadow yoga school. Furthermore, Mandy is in training with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, solidifying her commitment to holistic healing.
Our Approach: Embracing the Wisdom of the Body
At Yoga Somatic Therapy, we believe the body holds profound wisdom, often whispering messages through subtle sensations, movements, and tensions. Our approach acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, recognizing that emotional distress and trauma can manifest physically.
Rather than solely focusing on intellectual understanding, we employ a body-based, client-centered approach. This means creating a safe and supportive space where clients can connect with their inner experiences without judgment. We guide you in observing your sensations, emotions, and thoughts as they arise, allowing for a gentle and profound exploration of your inner landscape.
The Power of Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy is deeply rooted in mindfulness and the understanding that trauma can reside in the body. This therapy transcends traditional talk therapy, inviting you to experience your emotions and release held tension through movement, breathwork, and mindful awareness.
By working together in a collaborative partnership, we aim to cultivate a field of non-doing where your body can naturally process, discharge, and make sense of stored emotions and experiences.
Through somatic therapy, you may experience:
- Increased aliveness and life force energy
- More fulfilling relationships, including a deeper connection with yourself
- Enhanced ability to handle daily stress with grace
- The ability to confront long-held emotional pain patterns in a supportive environment
- Increased motivation for self-care practices, such as exercise, nourishing food, and spending time in nature
- A greater sense of self-worth and purpose
- Strengthened connection to your body
- Reduced social anxiety
- Greater self-agency
