Empowering You to Smile Confidently
At Little Feet Child Care, our story began in the late 1990s when Misty Slater, our founder and director, was working at a commercial daycare center in Lake Oswego, Oregon. As a head teacher in a toddler classroom and a student working on a degree in Early Childhood Education, Misty had the idea to strike out on her own and start a daycare. With a license granted by the State of Oregon, our program began as a registered in-home family daycare, focused on providing educational preschool and preparing children for kindergarten.
As our program grew, we transformed into a certified in-home status with the State of Oregon in 2007. Misty quickly hired talented teachers to help in the classroom and developed a curriculum to improve early literacy, gross and fine motor skills, social awareness, and diversity. Our program remains committed to what matters most to parents: providing a safe environment, free of judgment, where children are encouraged to be individuals with unique interests.
Over the years, our program has evolved and expanded to meet the needs of our families. In 2001, we rebranded as Little Feet Child Care, and in 2021, we expanded to a second location, also certified by the State of Oregon. Our team of teachers continues to strive to provide meaningful care to families and prepare children to reach their best potential.
As a passionate advocate for early childhood education, Misty has dedicated her life to nurturing, educating, and preparing young children for life. With over 20 years of professional experience, we are proud to have had the opportunity to serve our community.
Our Philosophy
At Little Feet Child Care, our mission is to provide each child with a warm, caring, stimulating, and safe environment. We recognize that every child is unique and strive to create an environment where they can develop to their greatest potential, build friendships, and enjoy their time spent with us. Our approach to teaching goes beyond preparing children for kindergarten; it is designed to foster early literacy, problem-solving, logical thinking, social understanding, and motor skills.
Our Programs
We offer a range of programs tailored to the specific needs and skill levels of children:
Preschool Program (3-5 years old)
Our preschool program is designed to help preschool children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, preschool children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. This is a time of enormous educational strides in language, social skills, and problem-solving.
Todler Program (1-3 years old)
Our toddler program focuses on your child's early brain development and encourages flexibility, creativity, and modern pedagogical techniques. We believe that young minds should be nurtured to foster self-confidence, early literacy, and developing essential social skills. Fine and gross motor skills are also crucial for developing and growing.
Infant Program (6 weeks - 1 year old)
Our infant program focuses on the early brain development of children during the first three years of life. We believe that adequate stimulation and nutrition are essential for development during these critical years. Our teachers are trained to understand what it takes to guide and teach young children.
