Staffing Issues and Poor Care
Several reviewers expressed frustration with the lack of staff and poor care at NCH. Jensine Lazo had a negative experience when she brought her mother to the ER, citing that security personnel were unhelpful and that there was only one nurse who was willing to assist. David Dallas mentioned that the emergency department was dangerous due to bad care, and the facility's cleanliness was embarrassing. Karen Abel highlighted the severe understaffing issue, particularly with techs, which led to her 90-year-old father waiting for extended periods to use the bathroom.
Communication and Nurse Response
Sara Jackson and Ted Miller mentioned that phone calls to nurses were ignored or received unacceptable responses. Jensine Lazo also mentioned that once her mother was put in a room, they didn't see the helpful nurse again. Ted Miller noted that the care was not consistent, and the nurse during his daughter's delivery was indifferent and lacked urgency.
Positive Experiences
Don Baker had a positive experience during his week-long stay on the 5th floor, praising the professionalism and attention he received from the nurses, doctors, and other staff. Tina Sanford had a good experience at the pediatric ER, where the staff was incredible with her non-verbal son. Robert Braren had a wonderful experience at the Trauma ER, citing the professionalism, kindness, and knowledge of the nurses and doctors.
Front Desk and Volunteer Issues
Jensine Lazo and Tina Miklos had negative experiences with front desk staff and volunteers. Jensine mentioned that security personnel were unhelpful, while Tina was rudely asked to move three times by a volunteer, even when there was no one around her.
